Finding My Way by Malala Yousafzai

Malala Yousafzai was thrust into the spotlight at a young age and immediately the pressure of girl's education around the world was placed onto her shoulders. Still a teenager and young adult, she had to navigate how and what she felt about things with millions of people looking at her words & actions through a microscope, inspecting everything she did, said, and wore.

This is such a well written novel that really gets the point across of what Malala went through as she grew up and tried to have normal college experiences. This book had me laughing at times, and made tears make an appearance at times. I don't read a lot of nonfiction, but I will read anything Malala writes. During this book she writes about a few current events, including when the Talaban took control of Afghanistan. I think what's sad and crazy to me is that it only happened a few years ago and yet it's never mentioned even though it's an ongoing issue. This world is constantly moving forward, and not always in good ways, to the point that things leave media and general attention so quickly.

Overall, I think this is a fantastic coming of age memoir that deals with a wide ray of issues including - navigating our future and what we want to with our lives, deciding if marriage is for us, trying to cultivate meaningful friendships & try to have a healthy/loving relationship with our parents and family. It also deals with anxiety, social norms, and how much of an influence others can put onto us. This is a must read. I rated this 5/5 and can guarantee it will be one of the best books I read in 2026.

If you do not know who Malala is, I highly recommend reading her first memoir: I Am Malala
